About Karva Chauth


Karva Chauth is a one day festival celebrated by Hindu women from some regions of India, especially northern India, four days after purnima in the month of kartika.Many Hindu festivals,karva chauth is based on the lunisolar calender which accounts for all astronomical positions, especially positions of moon a marker to calculate important dates. On karva Chauth , the married women, especially in Northern India, fast from sunrise to moonrise for the safety and longevity of their husbands.   
Historically, karva Chauth was celebrated as a prayer for the long life of soldiers in the war by extension today refers to the long life of a married husband. 

Why is karva chauth celebrated and it's timing...the festival of karva Chauth signifies the importance of the bond of love in our traditions.As per the Hindu traditions in any festival that celebrates the bond of marriage or love.Women worshipping Lord Shiva and Goddess Paravti is an essential part of this festival!                                            Karva chauth the festival of happiness and togetherness celebrated by married as well as unmarried women for the long life of their life partners!                                                                                  In a country where festivals from the essense of life it is very intrusting to see how each and every ocassionis celebrated with the larger than life. On this day women observe an austere nirjala fast for their husbands long life and perform several rituals to ensure that the bond lasts for seven life times. The fast begins before the sunrise, where a women receive a sargi from his mother-in- law  thali has several things from the feast to gifts to pooja samagri.
